The person, or the paperwork. Usually both.
The representative cannot be changed once the shop is verified. One unqualified person, one prior shop in their history, one utility bill in a parent’s name, and the account is rejected and that person is spent. There is no second try with the same representative.
The documents are checked character by character. Street against St. Suite against Ste. The business name on the EIN letter against the name on the bank account against the name on the state filing. TikTok now checks the EIN directly against the IRS at submission. One field out of sync starts a resubmission cycle. Two or three cycles and the application drops into identity review, where the options narrow fast.
TikTok does not tell you which one failed. Most of the sellers who reach us after a rejection were one review away from passing.
A rejected first submission costs a rescue engagement, a new representative, and months. Reaching a NOT READY verdict for $997, before a rejection joins your record, is the cheapest outcome on this page.

You are a TikTok Shop partner. Does that make you my agency?
No. We are a registered TikTok Shop partner for account setup. On a READY verdict, your account is registered through our partner channel, which puts a partner on record for your account. We do not run ads, manage listings, handle affiliates, or log into your Seller Center. Your team or your agency does that, and we work alongside the agency you already have.

What happens if the verdict is NOT READY?

I have a foreign-owned single-member LLC. Can I buy this?
Yes, and the file review will tell you whether that structure can certify as a U.S. person on a W-9. Not every single-member structure can, and TikTok Shop only accepts a W-9. If yours cannot, the verdict is NOT READY, entity, and the Verified Path is where the structure gets corrected, and your file review carries over.
Where does my U.S. Business Representative come from?
From your side of the business: a family member, friend, employee, or business contact in the U.S. who takes on a paid role. Chosen by you, prepared by us. Is the U.S. Business Representative the same as TikTok’s “Primary Representative”?
Yes. Same role. TikTok’s on-screen label is “Primary Representative.” We use U.S. Business Representative because it makes the residency requirement explicit, which is the whole reason the role exists for foreign-owned brands.
Should I pay my representative, or is this a favor?
In almost every case, a paid and structured arrangement. A favor is logging into an account once. This role is a named U.S. person putting their government ID and home address on your shop, completing identity verification, and staying reachable for the life of the account.
Plan on $500 to $800 a month for the realistic version of the role, and higher if you assign operational work on top. The calculator sets the number to your volume. One honest limit: paying widens the pool, and it does not turn a stranger into a safe representative.
